Blair Fowler says 'Amazing Race' competitors still have a massive group text going (2024)

LOS ANGELES -- Blair Fowler and her dad Scott's Amazing Race journey may be over, but the bonds they formed on the CBS reality show still live on.

The 22-year-old YouTuber -- who has 1.7 million subscribers to her Juicystar07 channel -- told Mashable that she and her dad remain in a huge group text with competitors from the11 teams(made up of all social media stars) this season.

"I think we've talked on it every single day since the race," Fowler said.

The Fowlers became the latest team to get eliminated from the Race after struggling during a choreography challenge in Armenia.

Blair,who also had an on-screen romance with fellow competitor Brodie Smith (their couple name: #blodie), chatted with Mashable about the elimination earlier this week.

Mashable: How do you feel now that it's all over?

Fowler:It’s actually really sad.Every morning when I wake up, I go on social media and everyone still tweets me about it.It reminds me about how I don’t want it to be over.

You had a unique opportunity to experience this with your dad. Has your relationship with him changed at all?

I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. I’m so pleased he was able to do it with me.

Nothing really changed except that now we are on a different level.I remember watching when he said on TV, "You know, I not only respect her as a daughter, but as a friend."We used to talk a couple of times a week ,but now we call each other every day.It definitely brought us closer.

Does he kind of understand your YouTube fame now, after competing alongside a bunch of other digital influencers?

He has been right next to my side -- both of my parents have -- since I started YouTube.

So I don’t think it was that shocking for him to see [my fanbase]. But he'sseeing a lot of them say "Your dad is awesome."I think that’s cool for him. He'sa 58-year-old man who hasn’t had this sort of publicity, and now he’s been recognized a few times.

What was it like watching your final episode air on Friday?

It was so emotional.I was a wreck pretty much the entire day because I knew this experience was going to be over.I didn’t want to happen.Watching it back and seeing how hard he was trying in the dance --I mean, I knew he was in the moment, but just seeing him fight for that was emotional.

Do you think there was anything you guys could have done differently?

I think it was just one little misstep after another.We have second guessed every single day since the race.You can’t go back and change it, but we definitely like to think, "What would we have done in the next leg?"

We talk about it. But at the end of the day, we were supposed to be eliminated in the first leg, and fate happened to be on our side with a non-elimination round.

Everything after that, we said we are just really going to enjoy it. It was a bonus adventure for us.

What was it like competing with people you already knew and who are all in the #TeamInternet world?

I think we all respect each other on a work level. Yes, there are definitely moments where we are competitive -- this is a race; everyone was there to win. But I think there was an unspoken kind of rule that we wouldn’t sabotage another team -- but we werehere for our own team.

It was the craziest experience.I cannot explain to you how these 22 people in a month became my family.I would do anything for any of them.

I heard you guys all still have a text thread. Is that true?

We have a group text going.I don’t think there has been a day where we haven’t had a conversation going.We have all the racers. If they aren’t talking in it, it's because they turned their own notifications if they have a big day.It just blows up your phone.

My dad loves it, too. Healways has the funniest responses. Like, we'llall be talking and it has nothing to do with him, and he says, "Hi, I just wanted to let you know I saw this message." It’s an awesome family we have.

Would you ever do the race again?

Oh my gosh, in a heartbeat. Is this an offer? Because I’m out the door.I’m so down.
